Biography
Biography
Simon Gudgeon was born in Yorkshire in 1958, where he learnt the essential arts of observation, evaluation and interpretation of wildlife. Whereas he had previously practised painting, an Impulse purchase of artist’s clay at the age of 40 lead him into a career as a sculptor. Simon works primarily in bronze but occasionally uses marble, granite, glass and stainless steel. He uses different materials for modelling of the form, depending on the nature and scale of the subject.
His minimalist, semi-abstract forms depict both movement and emotion of a moment captured with a visual harmony that is unmistakably his own.
He says: “As we continue to create sceptre, a task that will continue as long as we are alive, I count my blessings every day. It is a privilege to live in such beautiful surroundings and be able to follow a career that inspires and stimulates me on so many levels. It is an honour to be able to create something that has such a positive effect, that can transform people’s lives and uplift their spirits.”
