Find out about...
The Benefits of ARTglass

The edition of 195 is printed on 300gsm fine art paper, each print is individually signed and numbered by Chris and supplied with a certificate of authenticity, which features his accompanying poem:

Banksy’s been busy again...

a seagull swoops down from the skies

to a skipful of builders’ wood off-cuts

that just happen to look like French fries

Mounted with a white mount and supplied acetate wrapped.

The framed print is mounted as described and then framed in a 3cm square profile white moulding with highlighted edges. Supplied strung and ready to hang.

WHAT IS ARTGLASS?

Standard picture framing glass is called float glass. This glass is used by the majority of picture framers and is perfectly acceptable for use when framing most limited edition prints but it does cause reflection and impurities in the glass cause the framed image to appear duller than intended.

To overcome these compromises we offer all our limited editions with the option of been fitted with a speciality glass called ARTglass designed to reduce reflection and improve clarity.
Unlike 'non-reflective' glass which is etched to reduce reflection but has a cloudy appearance as a result, ARTglass is coated with a high-tech film, reducing reflection whilst adding clarity.
The example shown here is an actual scan of a print framed with ARTglass in the left half of the frame and standard glass in the right half. This image has not been altered or enhanced in any way and clearly shows how ARTglass improves the clarity and vibrancy of the print. From certain viewing angles it appears that the glass is invisible.

ARTIST'S PROOF

  • Framed Canvas on Board

Limited to just 20 prints, the Artist's Proof is a stunning large scale framed block mounted canvas print.

Printed on 400gsm fine art canvas. This is then bonded to 3.5mm board and varnished to replicate the look and feel of the original painting. This is called block mounting. The print is then framed in a 4cm x 4cm square profile moulding with a whitewashed oak effect. As the canvas is varnished, this print is not glazed. Each print is individually signed and numbered by Chris and supplied with a certificate of authenticity. Supplied strung and ready to hang.

Biography

Chris was born in Croydon, and later studied Illustration at Barnfield College, Luton. After training as a graphic designer and working in several respectable positions within the design and advertising sector, he now paints full time - creating his characterful pieces in his quiet studio in Corton, Suffolk, with panoramic views of the sea.

Often described as quirky and whimsical, his playful work usually involves an atmospheric land or seascape, populated with his characters – the gaunt and dry-humoured ‘Garfield Eldritch’ and his faithful Jack Russell pal ‘Barton Darcy’. The British east coast landscape and vernacular architecture feature heavily as a backdrop, and humour is often evident “I like to give people a grin if I can”.

He paints on panel using a large palette of oil colours, sometimes mixing metallics (silver, copper or gold) into the paint. "I find it makes things shimmer - particularly the sea, and it shows quite well after varnishing”.
