Many factors go into valuing a piece of art, including its format, i.e. whether it is an original piece, a limited edition print, or an open edition.
An original painting or drawing is a ‘one-off’ piece, and of those formats will therefore carry the highest value.
A limited edition print is just that - ‘limited’ to a specific run of prints, and it is this rarity which contributes to its value.
Of those formats the one with the lowest value is an open edition print, simply because there is no limit to the amount of prints that could be produced.
In terms of prints, at Collier & Dobson we offer only the highest quality limited editions, each printed on Fine Art paper or canvas, hand signed and numbered by the artist, and supplied with a certificate of authenticity.
