As an art publisher, we recognise creative talent and constantly strive to help it grow. This ethos has extended to the area of sports talent, with Collier & Dobson proud to sponsor local rugby clubs and sports-people – namely golfer, Corey Sheppard.
One of our company directors, Anthony Dobson, is not only a talented artist (find his work on our online gallery), he is also a keen golfer. His membership at High Post Golf Club in Wiltshire drew his attention to the considerable talents of young professional golfer Corey Sheppard.
Corey is is one of 3 professional golfers coaching at the 6,305 yards par-70, 18-hole, and 72 bunker golf course - reputed as one of the finest venues in the country.
A member at High Post since the tender age of 9, Corey began playing for Wiltshire at just 12 years old and has represented the county at every level thereafter.
After graduating Lee University in Cleveland with a Bachelor's Degree in Sports Management in 2018, he returned to England, placed in numerous National amateur events, and lowered his handicap to an impressive +2 in the process.
Handy hint...for those of us not in the know, a handicap in golf is a system of calculating the average number of strokes it takes for a player to finish a round – with the idea of indicating a golfer's potential, and enabling players of all abilities to compete equally.
Corey then went on to launch his professional career with a number of Winter series events in Portugal, a Q school (or 'qualifying school' - the annual qualifying tournaments for leading golf tours, such as the European Tour), and gained his full card to play on The Europro Tour in 2019.
With plans for a full season on the Europro Tour culminating with European Tour School at the end of the year in 2020 temporarily halted by lockdown, Corey is now back on top form with three top 10 finishes on the PGA region, recently qualifying for the English PGA Championship, and qualifying for the EuroPro event at Cumberwell Park in June.
We are so happy to sponsor this talented young player, supplying his professional equipment and clothing (from the excellent High Post Proshop) – all stylishly complete with the Collier & Dobson logo!
