Adding Colour to Your Home

Whether you’re stuck at home due to lockdown restrictions, or because the less clement winter weather is now upon us, it’s important to make your home as pleasing to spend time in as possible.

Your immediate surroundings can have a dramatic effect on your mood and, if you are working from home, your productivity too.

There are many ways in which you can improve your surroundings, and one way is through the use of colour and art.

Collier & Dobson has a huge selection of sculpture, original paintings and limited edition prints which will elevate the mood in any room.

When introducing colour, rather than completely redecorating your home, you can do so in the form of accessories, such as adding cushions, throws, or a beautiful piece of artwork.

The colours that you use in your home can have a great impact on how you feel, especially if you are spending extended periods of time there. For example, warm and vibrant oranges and reds are stimulating colours, and therefore great for encouraging activity and creativity. These colours could be great for use in a home office.

Soft greens and powder blues, on the other hand, are soothing colours, and therefore more suited to creating a calm and serene environment. Ideal for bedrooms or any areas where you want to relax and unwind.

You can also improve the feel of your home by introducing different textures – this can generate interest in a room, and even increase feelings of comfort. Again, it is not always necessary to completely redecorate in order to achieve this effect, and accessories like a sumptuous faux fur throw and rich natural leather storage chest can improve the feel of a room greatly.

If this has inspired you to add a little colour or comfort to your home, browse through the huge selection of sculpture, original paintings and limited edition prints on our website, and have a look at some of the gorgeous accessories on offer on our Interiors website.
