Bio : Ilse Michielsen
Ilse Michielsen is a driven artist who loves to work with a balance of strong colour against soft gold, and old and new materials. Her artistic process renews constantly - influenced by the atmosphere and elements of the various countries she frequently visits - adding new elements, like natural pigments, sand, gold, silver, glass and even pieces of animal skin.
Ilse constantly tries to find a new and delicate balance by searching for a new synthesis of matter and spirit. Decay and fragility is a great inspiration for Ilse which is conveyed by a release of raw pure energy, a wave of emotion, right onto the canvas, creating a vast body of work which is layered, spiritual and poetic.
