Limited to 250 fine art limited edition prints + 25 artist proofs, the main edition of 'Decisions, Decisions!' is available either mounted or mounted and framed.

Please make sure you select the format you require using the drop down list above.

Printed on 300gsm fine art paper, each print is individually signed and numbered by Dominique and supplied with a certificate of authenticity.

Mounted with an off-white double mount and supplied acetate wrapped.

The framed print is mounted as described and then framed in a 5.5cm wide pewter moulding. We offer the framed print glazed with Artscreen or a high quality reduced reflection glass called ARTglass. Supplied strung and ready to hang.

WHAT IS ARTSCREEN?

To overcome safety and weight issues with our larger limited editions we fit them with a speciality glazing product called Artscreen. It is a 2mm picture framing acrylic alternative to glass, which also offers excellent image clarity.

WHAT IS ARTGLASS?

Standard picture framing glass is called float glass. This glass is used by the majority of picture framers and is perfectly acceptable for use when framing most limited edition prints but it does cause reflection and impurities in the glass cause the framed image to appear duller than intended.

To overcome these compromises we offer all our limited editions with the option of been fitted with a speciality glass called ARTglass designed to reduce reflection and improve clarity.
Unlike 'non-reflective' glass which is etched to reduce reflection but has a cloudy appearance as a result, ARTglass is coated with a high-tech film, reducing reflection whilst adding clarity.
The example shown here is an actual scan of a print framed with ARTglass in the left half of the frame and standard glass in the right half. This image has not been altered or enhanced in any way and clearly shows how ARTglass improves the clarity and vibrancy of the print. From certain viewing angles it appears that the glass is invisible.

ARTIST'S PROOF
  • Stretched Canvas
  • Framed Canvas

Limited to just 25 prints, the Artist's Proof is a stunning large scale stretched canvas print.

Printed on 400gsm fine art canvas, each print is individually signed 'AP' and numbered by Dominique and supplied with a certificate of authenticity. The print is finished with a dark grey edge, fitted to a 3.4cm deep stretcher and strung and ready to hang.

The Artist's Proof is also available in a 9.2cm wide frame with a distressed warm silver finish. Supplied strung and ready to hang.

WHAT IS AN ARTIST'S PROOF?

Traditionally an artist's proof was a print made by the artist during the print-making process in order to understand the progress of the printing plate the artist was working on. In this respect it was a 'work in progress' print.

With the development of modern printing techniques the term is now used to refer to a number of finished prints that are available in addition to the main limited edition, and are reproduced to the same exact high quality. The number of artist proofs should not exceed 10% of the size of the main limited edition. The edition size of 'Decisions, Decisions!' is 250 prints so there are just 25 artist proofs available. The artist proofs may be exactly the same as the main limited edition or, as is the case with Dominique, the artist proofs may be a different format.

Biography

Dominique Salm was born in Jamaica in 1972, where she spent her early childhood before relocating to Hampshire. Having always been passionate about art and wildlife, she completed an illustration degree and then went on to combine her love of both to build a reputation as an internationally successful wildlife artist.

Her remarkably naturalistic portraits of animal subjects are depicted on a clean white background, which not only creates a dramatic graphic image, but conveys her modern aesthetic. Each image has an almost snap-shot quality, showing her unique ability of capturing the personality of each animal and imparting humour, character and whimsy to many of her pieces. " I have always seen the human side in animals - the way they make you laugh or sympathise with them with an action or an expression. I paint mainly from my own photos but can sometimes spend hours watching the subject as it's all about capturing that single moment."

Dominique frequently travels to Kenya where she is lucky enough to spend hours studying her subjects. On a recent trip, having noticed how the elephants vary in shades of red from rolling and spraying themselves in the rich soil out there, she came up with the idea of using the actual earth as a pigment in her paintings to convey this.

Dominique has quickly become an acclaimed wildlife artist and consequently her paintings are now highly sought after by private collectors and art dealers worldwide. She frequently exhibits in both London and New York, has been shortlisted for the David Shepherd Wildlife Artist of the Year, several years in a row and is winner of the BBC Wildlife Artist of the Year 2009, World Mammals category. In 2013, her ostrich painting “Rubbernecking” was chosen to for the international Birds in Art exhibition at the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum in Wisconsin.
