Things to Do in Hampshire this May

Things to Do in Hampshire this May

The Gosport Museum and Art Gallery have been hosting the return of its Open Art Exhibition since 20th January - and it will continue to run until 4th June. So there is still time to see what is on offer at this vibrant exhibition in this bustling coastal town.

Closer to home here in Fordingbridge, there is plenty going on…

Just down the A338, the Breamore Estate will be hosting their Steam Working Weekend on 11th and 12th May again this year, where you will be able to see working steam engines, vintage cars and tractors, as well as sample real ales from a selection of stalls, listen to a performance from a 16 piece brass band, and stock up on goodies from the farm shop and cafe.

The beautiful Breamore estate is home to a unique Grade II* listed Elizabethan manor house and Saxon church, as well as boasting Neolithic historic monuments, and a collection of glorious walks in quiet and picturesque countryside…so it’s the perfect spot in which to ‘get away from it all’.

If you’re looking for something a little more active, the New Forest Water Park is a great place for a fun family day out. The 50 acre New Forest park offers a range of watersports for a variety of abilities, including kayaking, wakeboarding, open water swimming, as well as their renowned main attraction - the “UK’s 1st and largest Wibit aqua park”.

If the early Summer weather is a being typically tumultuous, why not take advantage of some indoor attractions, like the Regal Cinema on Shaftesbury Street, Fordingbridge? This beautiful cinema was reopened in 2017 with a fabulous facelift, having been transformed to it’s former Art Deco and Streamline Moderne glory, and now screens a range of both current and classic films from a variety of genres, including family-friendly screenings.

If you’re in the Fordingbridge area, be sure to pay the town a visit and sample it’s many independent shops, pubs, and cafes, as well as paying a visit to our gallery and interiors showroom on Bridge Street.
