Equestrian Events and Country Shows for 2024

Equestrian Events and Country Shows for 2024

Collier & Dobson are excited to be exhibiting at four major equestrian events and country shows throughout the year: the Royal Windsor Horse Show, The Great Yorkshire Show, Burghley Horse Trials, and London International Horse Show.

Celebrating just over 80 years of hosting, this year the Royal Windsor Horse Show says it will be reinventing itself and bringing a new style of equestrian event to the sector, stating "Alongside the top-class equestrian competition in Jumping, Dressage, Driving and Endurance, and the 120-plus Showing classes, the Show is introducing some special events to make your visit even more exciting".  The RWHS has been staged every year since its conception in 1943 and is the only UK show to host international competitions in Dressage, Driving and Endurance, and Show Jumping. The event actually first took place to help raise funds for the War effort, having been inspired by the Wings for Victory campaign of the time, and was attended by key members of the Royal Family - as it still is today. Today the show continues to raise money for an official show charity, which changes each year, and has previously included The Household Cavalry Foundation, and World Horse Welfare. Sponsored by Defender.

In 2024, Show Director Charles Mills will be hosting his ninth and final Great Yorkshire Show which he says will be very special: “it will be full of entertainment, superb competition and the best animals in the UK coming together to celebrate farming, food and agriculture”. Organised by the Yorkshire Agricultural Society and taking place in beautiful rural Harrogate, the show is in its 164th year. Taking place in the picturesque Great Yorkshire Showground, it is the focal point of the farming community calendar in Yorkshire and further afield, and this year will include a world-first event: the World Ayrshire Federation Conference. This new event will convene around 100 farmers from all around the world and should confirm the show’s international significance in the agricultural sector.

Known as “the world’s greatest 5* equestrian event” Burghley Horse Trials is highly regarded within the equestrian social calendar and is consistently one of the most popular sporting occasions by attendance. It is one of just seven CCI 5* events in the world, boasting the most challenging test of a horse and rider. Held in the stunning Elizabethan parkland of Burghley House and Estate  since 1961, the event has hosted two World Championships, six European Championships, as well as one Young Riders European Championship over the years over its 60 year history and is set to wow crowds again this year with even more exhilarating equestrian action. Sponsored by Defender.

Rounding off the events calendar with a bang is London International Horse Show at ExCel in London in December. Held over six days in the run up to Christmas, this illustrious equestrian event is always a lively and spectacular affair. It hosts all three the FEI (International Federation for Equestrian Sports) World Cup Qualifiers in Dressage, Show Jumping and Driving, 5* Show Jumping Classes, international displays, masterclasses, the London Showing Series, and Kennel Club Dog Agility, and a number of sessions are broadcast live by the BBC.
