Find out about...
The Benefits of ARTglass

Printed on 300gsm fine art paper, each print is individually signed and numbered by Bev and supplied with a certificate of authenticity.

Mounted with a triple aperture off-white mount and supplied acetate wrapped.

The framed print is mounted as described and then framed in a 2cm square profile moulding with a dark silver finish called 'pewter'. Supplied strung and ready to hang.

WHAT IS ARTGLASS?

Standard picture framing glass is called float glass. This glass is used by the majority of picture framers and is perfectly acceptable for use when framing most limited edition prints but it does cause reflection and impurities in the glass cause the framed image to appear duller than intended.

To overcome these compromises we offer all our limited editions with the option of been fitted with a speciality glass called ARTglass designed to reduce reflection and improve clarity.
Unlike 'non-reflective' glass which is etched to reduce reflection but has a cloudy appearance as a result, ARTglass is coated with a high-tech film, reducing reflection whilst adding clarity.
The example shown here is an actual scan of a print framed with ARTglass in the left half of the frame and standard glass in the right half. This image has not been altered or enhanced in any way and clearly shows how ARTglass improves the clarity and vibrancy of the print. From certain viewing angles it appears that the glass is invisible.

Biography

Naturally drawn to depicting both animals and people, Shropshire based Bev Davies' style is free and distinctive, capturing the feelings and emotions of her subject. She uses a limited palette of earthy natural hues, and a combination of watercolour with Pen and Ink, to create her expressive and characterful compositions.

Bev studied at Wrexham art college over 35 years ago, which led to her studying a BA in 3D Glass Design. Upon graduation, she pursued a career in glass as a self employed artist, later combining her skills with that of her husband (also a glass artist) to open their own glass studio business, specialising in contemporary lighting and installations.

A change of circumstances and the emergence of the global pandemic in 2020 led to a need to stay at home...and an opportunity for her to start painting again. This led to her creating a collection of pictures depicting herself as a Goldfish, stating that The Goldfish was a representation of how she was feeling during her time shielding, illustrating her feelings of isolation and loneliness.

She says: “I enjoy the challenge of interpreting new subjects with my emerging and evolving style and palette of techniques. I am on a never-ending journey to find new ways to innovate and add extra depth to my work“.
