Samantha Barnes

Blessed with a large sense of humour, Samantha Barnes’s paintings celebrate life itself, the happiness, style, and beauty that are in each and every one of us. Situations and events, the every day and the outrageous, all provide a feast of ideas from which Sam creates her paintings.

Trained first at Winchester and then at Edinburgh School of Art, Samantha's first success was achieved by a collection of nudes and her “Ladies Collection”. At the same time London Weekend Television made a documentary called “ Park life” which filmed the build up to one of Barnes’ first solo exhibitions held at the Pump House Gallery in London. The show was a sell out with Harrods Gallery buying the biggest piece.

More group and solo shows followed as did success in licensing her images for use in calendars, cards and stationary with interest in particular coming from the United States. Sam has also undertaken numerous commissions from private clients.

In 2003 Samantha Barnes married and gradually withdrew from work to concentrate on her new son and with another new arrival born in 2008 her new collection has arrived just in time!
