As a greeting card artist, cartoonist and copywriter Peter Allwright’s career has been about creating a certain “mood” for a certain event: a birthday, a retirement an anniversary. Working for world-renowned names like Hallmark and Carte Blanche Greetings he has honed his skill for line, colour and communication, an amalgamation of talents that has led to sunny, bright and breezy paintings that are an advert for all things fun.
Freely admitting that the main aim of his images is to produce this feel-good factor, Peter has developed a unique style of working that is at once painterly and graphic. Using bold oil colours he creates big horizontal planes of colour peopled by children and adults enjoying a typically English day out at the beach, on the promenade, in the sea, flying kites and sailing boats.
