Mel Burgum
Mel Burgum’s paintings have a respectful nostalgia for the authenticity of the past. His collection “The Thirties Revisited” is a series of paintings which take their inspiration from the travel posters of that era; with a refined glamour they remind us of gentler days, whilst still exhibiting a contemporary edge.
Best known during the Eighties, for his work as Graphic Designer and Art Director for the BBC where he was involved in creating many notable productions. Mel continues to work freelance for the BBC alongside his fine art commissions, illustrating and designing mainly for Dr Who and Torchwood. His leaning as a fine artist, is towards that of a true craftsman, which gives his work a legitimacy that defies expectation.
Mel Burgum’s paintings and illustrated works are held in private collections throughout the UK and he is widely respected as a skilled visual artist.
