Vigliaturo plays creative games with light, exploiting the play of light to animate his “painted transparencies”. He brings a rare freshness and originality to his craft. Silvio Vigliaturo’s witty and vivid pieces are technically highly sophisticated, the product of a close collaboration between the artist and the glass-makers of the world famous Venetian island of Murano.
Silvio's themes include elements of classical fables, satirical jokes, musical evocations and dream like images - all given rich and playful character by the dynamics of glassblowing and the intensity of expert colour staining. In a career spanning over thirty years Silvio Vigliaturo has exhibited with great success in Italy and much of Europe, Japan and the United States establishing himself as an international figure in modern glass-making.
