Sophie Louise White
Not many young art students have the confidence to present a full size sculpture at their graduation show, nor the ability to gain first class honours in doing so. Sophie White’s 15ft Giraffe earned her that very accolade from Wimbledon School of Art in 2006. Since her leap onto the art scene Sophie has pursued her love of bronze sculpture by learning the casting process inside out.
Hands on knowledge of foundry processes aside, Sophie’s first love is for sculpting. This is evident whether she is capturing the tense vibrancy of boxing hares or the fragile stillness of a kingfisher. Working from her studio surrounded by beautiful countryside and an abundant variety of wildlife, a constant source of inspiration, Sophie's time is now dedicated to producing her own sculpture.
With an incredible eye for the nuances of her materials and her extraordinary skill for patination, Sophie has created a highly collectible, beautiful body of work in both silver and bronze.
