Barry Lewis
Barry Lewis was born in London in 1948. His early studies did not point to a career in the arts but following chemistry and a time teaching it all changed when his passion for photography gained him a scholarship to the Royal College of Art in 1974.
Any doubts that may have lingered over Barry’s new career were quickly dispelled when in 1976 he won the coveted Vogue Award and a position as a staff photographer with the magazine.
Since then he has co-founded Network Photographers with an extensive portfolio of images archived, won many prestigious awards including the World Press Oscar Barnack Award for a photo essay on post revolution Romania and pursued many and diverse personal projects.
During his highly successful career Barry Lewis has worked with clients such as Guinness, Saatchi, British Gas and BP and on the editorial side, with The Sunday Times, The Telegraph, Time and The Observer. He has also worked on a number of books and has held many solo exhibitions.
