Reuben Ward Binks

Reuben Ward Binks (1880-1950) was brought to the notice of Royal patrons after he had been seen sketching at a dog show by the Head Keeper at Sandringham; as a result, he was frequently invited to attend the Royal Shoots to sketch the dogs at work. He became a celebrity in the field of dog portraiture, working in watercolour, oil, pastels and various print media and traveling all over the world to depict favourite dogs. The prints available from Collier & Dobson are all aquatints and are all autographic: Binks undertook the whole process from the initial sketch to the making and proofing of each plate. The prints offered here are splendidly representative of Binks' life's work.
