Fanny Moody

English, 1861-1948

Fanny Moody (Mrs Gilbert King) was an animal painter who specialized in dogs. She is known for her soulful depictions of terriers. The daughter on the British animal painter Francis Wollaston Moody, she studied with John Trivett Nettleship (1793-1881), who was known for landscapes & marine paintings.

Moody exhibited extensively, including at the Royal Academy in London between 1888 and 1897, and The Society of Women Artists in Suffolk Street, London (founded in 1824) and elsewhere.
