Feeling ready to create a new body of work Sam has created an exclusive collection for Collier & Dobson. The sixteen limited edition prints feature Sam’s now infamous characters, “The Mustard’s”, Ernest Hemingway Mustard and his dear lady wife Violet along with their much loved eccentric friends and pets.
Using mixed media, pencil, oil pastels, coloured inks and her own idiomatic techniques, Sam depicts a seaside world of faded ice-cream colours where the breeze is always blowing and life is utterly delicious.
Sam’s popularity has been described as being attributable to her ability to paint a slice of normal life. This is certainly true and her quirky character creations are testimony to this ability. Her success is also thanks to a keen eye for the oddities of daily life coupled with a talent that can depict life’s less tangible elements, the smell of the sea, the feel of the breeze, “stripes, textures and delicious whiffs.”
These highly original whimsical paintings have understandably become much in demand both here and in America with originals now fetching up to £6000.
